I'm interested in a game where a motivated player with an active, thoughtful muse is encouraged to contribute! 7. How long have you been RPing? About two years, but I've been writing much longer. ^^ 8. Birthday: For the birthday list! Age and year not necessary. August 16 Character: 1. Name: Luke Lawliet (L) 2. Nickname(s): L, Ryuzaki, Hideki Ryuuga, Jonathan Winters, Steven Smith, and various other aliases. 3. Gender: Male 4. Age and date of birth: L is 25 and was born on October 31 (year arbitrary, though canonly 1979) 5. Species: Human (though eerily robotic at times) 6. Sexuality: He always begins games as asexual due to lack of good experiences with sexuality. However, this is subject to change based on what happens during the course of the game. 7. Fandom: Death Note 8. PB: Ken'ichi Matsuyama 9. From what time in canon is your character from? Prior to his death. On the brink of solving the Kira case, if you will. 10.Complete Character Description: 5’8” and extremely thin (his estimated BMI is 15), L never dresses well, stands up straight, or makes any kind of effort to look like he cares what people think about him. His typical outfit is a long-sleeved white thermaln (too small) and a pair of old blue jeans (too big), and his hair is disheveled and black. His heritage is a mix of Russian, French, Japanese, and English, and some of his features are oddly striking, but otherwise, he’s not the kind of person one would instantly label attractive. His complexion is pale and dull, suggesting that he doesn’t eat or sleep well, and he has a very impressive set of dark under-eye bags. 11. Personality: An immeasurably high IQ makes L difficult to relate to, but gives him a powerful edge when it comes to situations that require creative and unusual solutions. He is skilled in the martial art Capoeira, and speaks at least four languages fluently. He can win a blinking contest anytime, anywhere, and he’s a violinist with perfect pitch and a liking for Paganini. He likely suffers from Asperger's Syndrome, and tends to obsess over anything that catches his interest, from a difficult case to (God save her) anyone he happens to develop a romantic interest in. L has many quirks. A few include his constant craving for sweets, his tendency to hold things very delicately, and his habit of assuming a crouching pose rather than sitting normally. I’ve added two more: he is a bit of a germaphobe and he REALLY dislikes mirrors. To the point where he actively avoids them. L is an INTJ personality type, as close as the Myers-Briggs can nail him. Introverted, Intuitive, Thoughtful, and very Judgmental, he’s not the most patient soul when it comes to the incompetence or flippancy of others. He can easily spend hours doing one thing, no matter how mundane it appears to others, as long as he deems it important. He cares little what others think of him. His moods are fairly static, ranging from bored to mildly interested, at least on the surface. Despite his affected aloofness, in the rare cases L’s interest is sincerely piqued, he can behave unpredictably, and even be quite emotional. 12. Background: L’s childhood is enigmatic, but many who have dedicated their lives to unveiling it have reached a consensus that he poisoned and killed his abusive stepfather at the age of five, and survived his mother’s attempted suicide/homicide the day she drove her car off an icy bridge. After two years in a coma from the resulting trauma, he was discovered by an elderly gentleman who discovered a highly efficient way to cultivate young detectives. He grew up under “Watari’s” care and tutelage, solving over 1000 cases. Until one… the infamous “Kira” killings posed a challenge even for L. It wasn’t for lack of a suspect… Light Yagami was always the man, as far as L was concerned, but the nature of the murders was such that he couldn’t prove it. Sadly, he was correct, and the case claimed his life at the age of 25 when Light convinced a supernatural force to kill him. 13. Weaknesses: L's social skills leave much too much to be desired. He is almost certainly somewhere on the autistic spectrum, able to maintain eye contact when he focuses but disliking it intensely. He hates to be touched and will lash out if he is handled roughly; if lashing out doesn't work, he'll go limp and catatonic until whoever has a hold on him lets go. He dislikes swearing as a rule, and has been known to get inappropriately upset when people use even mild cuss words. L is not heartless, but has a difficult time with reading and understanding expressions and emotions, as well as empathy. As far as relationships go, they're possible for him, but reliant on an incredible amount of understanding and patience from the other person. Despite his childish demeanor, he is well aware of his genius, and feels slightly isolated from- and superior to- the rest of the world. This can create difficulty in interaction with people L believes to be less intelligent than he is; he can come off as rude, arrogant, and cruel, among other things, meaning that he makes enemies ten times easier than he makes friends. Getting past the misunderstandings can be an ordeal when meeting L. 14. Strengths: His raw intelligence is such an integral part of his character that it's scarcely worth mentioning, but the nature of it is worth a bit more detail. L has a very smooth learning curve; he picks up new subject matter and skills as quickly as is believable, and some things (like languages and music) even faster. He is ambidextrous and both right and left-brained, allowing him to excel at both analytical and artistic endeavors. L is highly intuitive, so much that his "hunches" often beat proof to the punch, but he always makes sure that he has basic evidence before doing something risky in a case. He can usually distance himself from his own emotions during crises or potentially upsetting events (in exchange for having occasional odd reactions like fear, amusement, or melancholy to things that seem inappropriate. He is good at detecting patterns and likes numbers a great deal. 15. Likes: violin music, investigating, taking risks, prime numbers, Dostoevsky, England, talking to himself in French while in the shower, candy, chocolate, cookies, cake, broken-in blue jeans, cherries, The Iron Giant, select poetry, computers, tennis, 100% cotton garments, fruit, Vonnegut, peace and quiet, bells, cats (though he's allergic) 16. Dislikes: socks, meat of any kind, sitting normally, having to repeat himself, being reminded to do things, eye contact, handling money, sandpaper, mirrors, things too strongly scented, loud and sudden noises, rock and metal music, swearing, being touched, going to the doctor, dogs 17. Talents and Hobbies: L enjoys both listening to and playing the violin, exercising what seems like very tedious syllogism-based logical reasoning for others, standing in the rain to play mind games with rivals, and practicing capoeira. He has little spare time, being the world's greatest detective and all, but if he has a second to spare he likes to play a little sudoku. 18. Family and Friends: L's only known family was his mother, Sophie Lawliet. He never knew his father, has nothing but bad memories of his stepfather, and has always considered Watari nearer to that position in his life than either of them. His only "friends" could be considered Light Yagami (who orchestrated his death in canon) and Misa Amane (who helped, in canon). 19. Character's Room #: Ummm... to be assigned? 20. Substantial 3rd person sample post. There were no pencils to stack today, and nothing for L to indulge the habits that hurt his relationships with others and hid his face from the world. His monitors were blank and empty, since he'd, for once while in his room, abandoned his vigilant watch on Emptiness. Though he'd been busy these last few weeks, fighting for his survival and evading Light's attempts to derail his efforts and his sanity, and trying to gently reject the obsessive B, L's thoughts had seldom strayed far from Blythe. Her face, her possible thoughts and actions, her words both stern and gentle. There had been times, with Light and while making sense of those times afterwards, when simply letting go had been tempting, but out of the question, thanks to thoughts of her. L owed her a great deal, and the words in his hand reminded him what had to be fixed. He respected Dostoevsky, and could apply the man's words to someone else he respected. There were things left unsaid, and they had brought much unhappiness into their world. Following logic, saying those unsaid things should chase away that unhappiness, but L had life as an adult long enough to know that it was seldom so simple. The fact was... when Blythe had ended their courtship, here in this room weeks before, L had been, in essence, a child. Stacking pencils, and trying to evade the truth, wayward and needing of a mother more than a lover and gentleness more than honesty. It was his fondest hope that today Blythe would come face-to-face with someone older, and wiser, and focused on one objective: her safety and her her ability to pursue her own happiness without fear. It was still selfish of L, to place her above others simply because she was someone he cherished, but it was a nobler kind of selfish and a nobler reason to murder Light in cold blood several days from now. 2.
